This will be a three-way gastronomic event, with Cooking Professor Chef André educating the audience on, and demonstrating, French-influenced culinary methods; with MIIS interpretation students translating from French into English; and with our own AF members playing the vital roles of taster and critic. Some hands-on effort may be necessary to help serve. Wine will be available to
accompany the fruits of your efforts. Price of admission will be $23 to cover the cost of ingredients and a donation to the MPC hospitality program. RSVP by April 2 (see the bulletin for more information).

Concours de poésie

French students from local schools will recite poems belonging to the canon of French literature, as well as their own original compositions. Prizes will be awarded for the best performances. We encourage you to come support these students and their study of the French language. Refreshments will be served.

We are honored to have Alliance Française member Pascale Richards-Deliens present the film and lead a discussion afterwards in French.

5:00 P.M., Casa Fuente 434, on the MIIS campus: across the street from the McGowan 102 entrance on Pacific Street, where we had films last year. You may park anywhere on campus, on the street outside of Casa Fuente, or in the public parking lot across the street. Please see map on page 3 of the Bulletin. Leonardo Da Vinci – From Milan to Amboise

Lecture by Celine Glon in French with free simultaneous translation in English.

Let’s travel back in time and explore this fascinating Renaissance period during which Leonardo Da Vinci worked either as an engineer or as a painter.  This presentation will also be a deep dive into some of the less known personality traits of this genius mind revealing some of his contradictions.  Finally, you will discover how Francis Ist and Leonardo Da Vinci worked together side by side in one of the most beautiful regions of France known to be the cradle of Renaissance.
